Bamber Bridge v Whitby Town 21/02/26

Bamber Bridge 1 - 1 Whitby Town

Bamber Bridge hosted Whitby Town with the hopes of creeping into the play-off places and it was debut starts for new signings Nathan Snowball and George Gyrba who joined the club on work experience loans from Preston North End.

The home side started the game off, instantly putting pressure on the travelling side which was rewarded when Jamie Allen made a great run on the right flank, he then cut inside and played a 1-2 with Olly Molloy and rifled in a shot into the bottom right corner to take the lead for Brig inside the first five minutes.

As rain continued to flood the pitch, it was becoming increasing difficult for both teams to keep possession of the ball. A back pass to Bamber Bridge’s number one, Aiden Dowling, was intercepted Whitby Town's Matty Tymon who had an open goal to shoot at. Allen couldn’t clear the ball before it crossed the line and Whitby equalised.

Both sides went close to taking the lead in the first half with the best chance coming from Bamber Bridge’s number six, Archie Lang, when he found space on the edge of the box a sent a strike that looked certain to nestle into the top left corner but was clawed away by Town’s goalkeeper to keep the game tied.

Dowling was the busiest Bridge player during the second half, pulling off three superb saves to keep his team in the game.

Danny Forbes thought he stole all three points for Brig in the closing stages of the game as he timed a spectacular overhead kick that looked destined for the back of the net. His attempt was ultimately palmed away and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Next up for Bamber Bridge’s is a trip to fellow play-off chasers Gainsborough Trinity next Saturday.
