Bamber Bridge were defeated 3-2 by Guiseley on bank holiday Monday.
Guiseley applied some early pressure as the game commenced, creating plenty of half chances in the opening 15 minutes.
However it was Brig who opened the scoring through Billy Bould, Simon Grand played a ball into the channel for Olly Molloy to get in behind, he squared it across the face of goal to leave Bould with a tap in.
Brig doubled their lead just three minutes later, Simon Grand this time finishing the move after he guided a low header past Guiseley goalkeeper Cracknell.
The goal chances kept on coming but this time it was Guiseley’s turn to get on the scoresheet, Brig had a brilliant chance to make it 3-0 inside twenty minutes, but the visitors went up the other end and broke away with Farrell keeping composed 1v1 with Nicholas Michalski in the Brig goal and getting one back for Guiseley.
The score was 2-1 after twenty minutes following 3 goals in less than 4 minutes.
It was end to end football between the two sides however there were no more goals before half time, the score going into the break was 2-1 to Brig.
Brig then started the second half well, Potts and Hey linked up brilliantly but a pass through to Molloy was intercepted.
Guiseley then got their equaliser in the fifty- sixth minute after captain Jameel Ible finished from close range.
The score was 2-2 throughout the second half and both sides had chances to put themselves in the lead, however it was Will Longbottom to be the hero for Guiseley after he struck a free kick into the bottom right corner in the 93rd minute to win the game for Guiseley.
Speaking after the game Brig Manager Jamie Milligan said that the team struggled with having to play 2 matches in quick succession.
“I didn’t think we played well at all today, we’ve had games this season where we have played well and not got anything out of the games but today I don’t think we played (well) and it’s a tough ask to play 2 games in 3 days at this level.
think it was a tough ask for the players and we looked tired today.”
An entertaining match but it’s the visitors Guiseley who took all 3 points.
Next up for Brig is a home FA Cup tie on Saturday when the visitors are Newton Aycliffe.
