Match Report- FC United of Manchester.

It was a slow start in the opening minutes at Broadhurst Park Stadium, but when both teams found their rhythm, the game heated up. With Lorenze Mullarkey-Matthews hitting the post to Aidan Hunt being sent off Brig had a challenging day at FC United.

The Blackburn Rovers loanee had a bright start to the opening minutes. The forward cut in from the left-hand side and struck it cleanly, but his effort failed to go on the right side of the post.

Gabidon was starting to cause more issues for Brig's defence, beating both Leigh and Churchman before putting it across for Aaron Bennett, who had his effort comfortably saved by Aidan Hunt.

Hunt was then sent off just before the break, with the keeper coming out of his box to clear it. His boot was deemed high, and he was given a straight red card. With no backup keeper on the bench, Simon Grand was forced to go in between the sticks.

From the foul, Charlie Munro whipped it round the wall and gave United the lead which was deserved.

Just after the break, United were again on the front foot. Gabidon was played through, and it was a one-on-one with Macauley Wilson. The experienced defender made a crucial tackle to deny United a second.

Brig were forced into an early change in the half. Amadou Doumbouya picked up a knock and was replaced by Danny Edwards.

It did not take long for United to double their lead.  Aaron Bennett slotted it calmly past a hopeless Grand.

Just at the hour mark, the Reds were in again. After an offside trap attempt, Lewis Gilboy was clean through and placed it around Grand to extend their lead to three.

In the 67th minute, Grand was forced into action, making a fine save to his near post to deny the hosts a fourth.

Simon Grand again was forced into action, making one big one-on-one save before getting up for the rebound to deny a fourth.

After some rather rash tackles from both teams, Michael Potts went into the book just shy of 80 minutes after a high challenge.

Brig suffered defeat for the sixth time in a row and will be looking to bounce back against Ilkeston Town on Tuesday night.
