Match Report Bamber Bridge - Macclesfield

Bamber Bridge beat high flying Macclesfield in their final home game of the season thanks to goals from Harry Scarbourgh and Jeff Adubofour.

It was a fascinating first half dominated by brig who had an early chance kept out by Connor O'Keefe.

Five minutes later Adubofour drove into the box before turning and firing a powerful shot that was met by the hands of O'Keefe.

Callum Leigh was the next to try and break the deadlock with an ambitious half volley that just did not have enough dip to trouble the keeper bouncing of the roof of the net.

Leigh would come closer moments later after spotting O'Keefe off his line the Brig midfielder lined up an audacious effort from inside the centre circle that was tipped around the post by Macclesfield's number one.

From the corner Macclesfield's defence metal was tested again first Scarbourgh's effort was blocked and then O'Keefe was called in to action again to keep out Simon Grand's header.

Brigs were to be denied the opener by the woodwork next. Michael Potts fed Scarborough down the right his low cross was diverted onto the post by Bohan Dixon, fortunately for the Macclesfield defender.

Macclesfield took the lead in the 27th minute with Dan Sweeney sending a free kick into the top corner of the goal.

Brig responded well Michael Potts creating another chance for Leigh on the edge of the box, but his effort was deflected behind for a corner.

Brig would find their equaliser from this. Leigh and Potts completed a quick one two before Leigh floated in a cross, Macauley Wilson flicked header fell to Adubafour who took a cross before firing the ball into the goal.

Sweeney thought he had restored his sides lead in the last seconds of the half after a solo run, but Ellis Litherland-Riding kept it out to keep the scores level going into half time.

The second half began rather the same with Brig having most of the ball but neither side managing to create any clear-cut chances before the hour mark.

O’Keefe was called into action for the visitors to again keep out Leigh, this time the midfielder sending a volley towards goal that the keeper had to tip round the post.

Following this chance Brigs pressure finally paved way for a goal. Chris Marlow found Scarbourgh lurking on the edge of the box, the striker swivelled superbly before finding the bottom left corner to give the home side a deserved lead.

Going into the final ten minutes Brig looked to find a decisive third goal with Potts, Ali Wadidcar and Adubafour all coming close, but in the end the two goals were enough to secure victory.

Two home wins on the bounce for Brig who will look to finish the season strongly away at Basford United before the LFA cup final next Tuesday
