Brig Vets lead the chase for cup final glory
Bamber Bridge Vets head to the LFA's County Ground in the Lancashire FA Veteran's Cup Final.
Although the first team are still in contention for the LFA County Cup, Bamber Bridge Vets could be the first team to return to Irongate with silverware this season having made it through to the finals of the Lancashire FA Veteran's Cup 2024.
The 'Elder Statesmen of Brig' secured their final place last week with a convincing 4-0 semi-final victory over Fylde Coast Soccer. Goals on the night from Paul McKenna, Tom Ince, Lennie Reid and Chris 'Goose' Marlow took the Vets goalscoring tally for the competition to an impressive 22, with just 3 conceded.
Paul McKenna's free kick opened the scoring for the Vets
It will be an M65 derby for the final as Brig will take on Colne Vets, who narrowly overcame Euxton Villa Vets in the other semi final last night.
Scorer of Brig's fourth goal, Chris Marlow.
The final will take place at the LFA's County Ground in Leyland on Tuesday 19 March (Kick off 7:30pm).
Admission for the game is £6 adults and £3 concessions (cash on the turnstile).
We are encouraging as many Briggers as possible to come down and cheer on the lads as they look to bring home the first trophy of the season to Irongate.
