750 and counting for Simon Grand
Defender celebrates career milestone.
Bamber Bridge's Simon Grand celebrated a remarkable milestone at last Saturday's game versus Morpeth Town, reaching an incredible 750 career appearances.
"Grandy's" career began in the Football League with Rochdale, where he signed as trainee in 2001. He made his full first team debut in December 2002 in a 2nd round FA Cup tie against Bristol Rovers and went on to make 40 appearances for the club.
Following his departure from Rochdale, he began his journey around the football league. Across his career he has made appearances for four other league sides: Carlisle; Grimsby; Morecambe and Aldershot.
After departing Morecambe in 2008, he made the move to non-league, joining Northwich Victoria in August of that year.
In addition to Northwich Victoria, his non-league CV includes no fewer than 11 clubs, including Fleetwood Town, Southport, AFC Fylde, Barrow and Chester with club number 11 being Brig who in joined in January 2024 from Northern Premier League neighbours Lancaster City.
Although being a defender by trade, in recent weeks he has made the move to an attacking role and has netted 4 goals so far this season, proving his versatility and enduring talent on the field.
To mark the milestone, before Saturday's game, Grandy was presented with a commemorative shirt.
Reaching 750 career appearances is a testament to his dedication, resilience, and passion for the game.
Congratulations Grandy, next stop 1000!
