Potters Bar Town away match report

match report by Phil Murphy

Potters Bar Town condemned Kingstonian to a 7th game without a win as Calvin Ekpiteta came back to haunt K’s at the LA Construction Stadium. Goals from Ekpiteta and Tyler Christian-Law gave the home side a two-goal lead, with Elliot Buchanan grabbing a consolation for Hayden Bird’s men.

K’s started the first half brightly, with the lively Addai proving a constant threat on the right on his return to Kingstonian colours.

It was Addai’s work that gave K’s the golden opportunity to take a 30th minute lead when he was tumbled over in the box by an ill-disciplined Scholar.

On this occasion, the so-often reliable Gus Sow fired over. It was the midfielder’s first miss from the spot in 10 attempts and perhaps a sign of things to come on the night.

The home side looked revitalised following the penalty let-off and went close through Isaa Ogundere and Tyler Christian-Law before the break.

Half-Time: Potters Bar 0-0 Kingstonian.

Potters commenced the second half with growing confidence and in the 50th minute AFC Wimbledon loanee Ogundere teed up a Potters Bar teammate to hammer home from close range.

When the players raced clear to celebrate, it was inevitably ex-K Calvin Ekpiteta leading the way to mark his debut with a goal against his former teammates.

10 minutes later, the home side doubled their lead, when Christian-Lew converted at close range from a corner, leaving short of confidence K’s with a small mountain to climb.

With K’s looking out of sorts and short of ideas, up stepped Elliot Buchanan to bring hope. The facemask clad front-man picked up the ball outside the box and fired with venom. It left his boot with pace, jumped through the air and flew into the top corner of Al Droubi’s net to give K’s 13 minutes to find an equaliser.

In the end though, hope was all it provided and the visitors were able to comfortably see out a 2-1 victory and do the double over K’s for the season.
