K’s Bedevilled by Powerful Angels Second Half

If news that Kingstonian have arranged a groundshare with a local Ryman League side provided some relief off the pitch there was no such relief on it, as another poor second half performance saw them slump to a 3-0 defeat at home to Tonbridge.

As has often been the case recently they started well enough, with the first two chances of the game falling to Shaun Bonnett-Johnson. However he volleyed the first over before firing the second straight at Anthony di Bernardo.

The Angels came close when Tom Phipp forced Rob Tolfrey into a sharp near post save but it was in the second half when they really pushed the accelerator.

Almost straight after the interval Ks got into a muddle defensively, failed to clear their lines properly and allowed Luke Allen to fire low past Tolfrey.

Ks never looked like getting back into the game and Tolfrey had to save well from substitute Nick Wheeler. The result was sealed on the hour mark when Jack Parter burst forward and got inside makeshift full-back Joe Turner. His shot from the corner of the box deflected to leave Tolfrey stranded.

The biggest cheer from the Ks fans came when former star Andre McCollin came off the bench for the Angels, although they were unlucky not to pull a goal back when Ryan Moss couldn't quite find the right touch to finish after good work by Tom Derry.

In injury time Nathan Elder had a simple finish from a corner to make it 3-0. Ks are now five without a win and if they don't break that run soon then a relegation fight could yet become a reality.
