Moss rescues K’s from the spot
After twice consecutively losing games to injury time goals, it was some relief for Kingstonian that a late goal went their way against Folkestone Invicta, albeit only to salvage a point.
Once again a game started well for Ks, it taking only seven minutes for them to take the lead. A corner broke to Ryan Moss who headed back across goal to leave captain Alan Inns to poke home from close range.
Two minutes later Moss nearly had another assist, teeing up Youssef Bamba, but the winger lashed narrowly wide.
Ks were unable to sustain any pressure on the visitors though and on 38 minutes the scores were level. Rob Tolfrey made a good save with his legs but Phil Starkey was on hand to turn the rebound home. On the stroke of half time Tolfrey saved well again, this time from Jordan Wright.
The second half began with a welcome contribution from Sean Bonnett-Johnson: the breaking of one of the hated blue seats in the Kingston Road End with a wayward 25-yarder. Three minutes later Moss came far closer with a header from a Bamba cross and midway through half goalkeeper Tim Roberts did well to save an Inns header.
The star of the show was Invicta's Ian Draycott though. Having already hit the bar he gave Folkestone the lead on 79 minutes, lobbing Tolfrey from around 30 yards on a counter-attack. It was a spectacular strike that would have been a worthy winner to a game at any level.
Ks never looked like getting back into it until the late introduction of new signing Evans Kouassi, who with pretty much his first touch for the club beat two men with some impressive trickery to get to the Folkestone byline. He pulled the ball back to another substitute, Pelayo Pico Gomez, who was bundled over in the box by Sam Hasler.
Moss tucked the penalty home to tie the game on 90 minutes and immediately sprinted to recover the ball for an injury time push. That failed to materialise though and it was Folkestone who dominated the dying moments; Draycott volleyed the best chance over though and Ks avoided the humiliation of going down to a third straight injury time winner.
