Pinney Rescues Point for Kingstonian

A last minute Nathaniel Pinney header rescued a point from a frustrating afternoon for Ks but the wastefulness of some of their finishing will have concerned Tommy Williams.

Ks enjoyed a strong first half against a team who have lost their first four games and looked far less impressive than last year's slick-passing outfit who made it all the way to the playoffs.

In the tenth minute Andre McCollin robbed goalkeeper Chris Winterton near the touchline but was unable to find the empty net from a highly acute angle.

Winger Chris Henry also tested the goalkeeper twice but Winterton saved easily the first time before parrying his next effort out. McCollin put the rebound over the bar.

Five minutes before the break the striker came even closer, rounding Winterton but hitting the crossbar and he also fired wide on the stroke of half-time.

Rob Tolfrey saved a Craig Robson 20-yarder after the break and then a minute later the Rocks' defence did well to scramble a Henry effort clear.

McCollin was next to come close, slamming a shot off the post after being played through on goal as Ks' frustration increased. They struggled to maintain their attacking momentum though as the chances dried up, even after the introduction of Pinney and Alex Addai.

Almost inevitably, Bognor scored with a sucker-punch nine minutes from time, substitute Ollie Pearce beating Tolfrey with a fine header.

Ks showed the same resilience that saw them beat Hornchurch and Leatherhead with late strikes though, eventually finding an equaliser deep into injury time. It looked like it wouldn't be their day when Pinney lobbed over and James Crane slid in to clear another McCollin effort off the line but Pinney eventually struck his second injury-time goal in as many games.

It came from a late free kick after a foul on Addai, which McCollin hit longer than he might have hoped. Osa Obamwonyi, under pressure from Aaron Goode, headed it back across his own goal though and with the defence distracted by the presence of Tolfrey, Pinney popped up unmarked to head past Winterton from close range.
