K's Beaten By Tooting and Mitcham

Kingstonian squander a first minute lead and are beaten by their hosts from Tooting and Mitcham United

Despite opening the scoring after just fourteen seconds, Kingstonian will have been disappointed with slipping to a 2-1 defeat by Tooting and Mitcham United.

A cross from the right headed home by Josh Casey gave the visitors the dream start and it could have been doubled when Nathaniel Pinney struck the post with a 20 yarder. The hosts then saw plenty of possession and deserved their equaliser when Craig Watkins was played into space and shot across goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey.

The highlight of the second half for the K's was the appearance of Aaron Goode, fit again after his knock on opening pre-season day at Walton Casuals. Pinney had time to hit the woodwork again but it was a largely disjointed performance by the K's, who failed to take any more chances, for they managed to create a few. K's were punished by the Terrors, the winner for the Ryman South team coming in the 69th minute with a goal by Billy Marshall.

It is perhaps worrying if pre-season goes like a charm, as it can prevent any problems from being fixed before the competitive stuff begins, so (reaching for the great book of cliches) this may have done the K's a favour.
