A match report from the game v Blyth Spartans by Seth Boardman.

A 6 goal thriller ends in all 3 points for Brig and meaning we're out of the dropzone

The teams were out and Blyth got us underway at the SFC stadium on a hot, sunny day.

GOAL! On just 6' minutes Brig's number 9 Ewan Bange opened the scoring. Cleary makes a good run through the middle of the pitch before laying the ball of to Hey. First time Hey whipped in a good low cross which found the tall centre forward Ewan Bange who slotted home from close range.

Brig's lead then didn't last long as Morpeth's Jonathan Hooper equalised the game on just 10' minutes. Cyril Giraud drove down the left side getting past Dodd. Giraud then cut inside before putting in a good cross which just manages to find Hooper who manages to just get a foot to the ball and slot it in from 3 yards.

Brig were in control of the game for the next 10 minutes. Some good play by Brig in the middle of the pitch eventually finds Churchman who fires in a good cross but it's then blocked and out for a corner. Minutes later Brig had another chance. Cleary recieved the ball from 20 yards out with his back to goal. He then turned past his defender before taking on a good shot but it went just over the bar

GOAL! On 21' minutes Bange made it his second of the afternoon. Once again Lewis Hey put a good cross into the box which finds Bange open in space. He goes for goal but Bancrodt makes a good initial save, but unfortunately for the visitors Bange got onto the rebound and unleashed a powerful strike which found the back of the net.

Blyth did have a good chance on 25' minutes when Nicky Deverdics made a good run down the right side before laying the ball to the edge of the box where Charlie Aitken was awaiting, but his shot was then blocked by Baxter at the front post.

Just seconds later at the other end Brig had a chance to get a third. Finlay Heath sends a cross into the box for Bange, but his shot goes just wide of the left post.

GOAL! Churchman made it three on 28' minutes. A good corner is whipped in by captain Potts. The ball is then flicked on by Bange to Churchman who manages to scissor kick it into the bottom left corner.

On the 33' minute Cleary then had a chance to make it 4 but his shot from close range is dragged just wide. Then just 5 minutes later, Brig had once again another chance to make it 4. Wallbank made a good run through the middle of the pitch before laying it off to Heath. Heath then goes for goal from distance, but his shot goes high and wide.

On the stroke of half time, the visitors had a chance to get one back. Deverdics curls a good ball into a crowded box but Ridley wasn't able to get a clean shot of as Casper makes a comfortable save. Half Time

Just 4 minutes into the second half, Brig had yet another chance to make it 4. Cleary goes on a superb run through the middle of the pitch before unleashing a good shot, but his effort is blocked and out for a corner.

Just a minute later, Ewan Bange had an audacious effort on goal. A cross by Brockbank on the right side then found Bange, with his back to goal.

Bange then attemps an audacious overhead kick, but it goes just inches past the left post.

It then took a while for the next chance to happen, but it was in favour of the hosts. Brig work the ball around well in the final third. It eventually ends up at the feet of Brockbank, who gets his shot off, but it went just over the bar. Then Jack Baxter had a chance but his low driven shot is saved comfortably by Bancroft.

On 65' minutes, Adam Dodd then went into the referee's book after a tactical foul on Almond.

GOAL! Robbie Cleary gets on the scoresheet with a wonderful goal! Bange finds himself inside the penalty area and he beautifully dinks a ball across for Cleary who volleys a low effort past Bancroft, making it 4 for Brig on 72' minutes

Minutes later Brig had a chance to make it 5! Some good play in the Blyth half eventually found Brockbank, who played a good ball to Cleary inside the box. Cleary played it back to Brockbank who took on the shot from 8 yards but Blyth's goalkeeper Bancroft made a good save.

Bamber Bridge then made a double substitution on 78' minutes when Mark Cullen and Danny Forbes replaced goal scorer Ewan Bange and Michae Potts.

Blyth then had a chance to get one back but no one could get onto the end of Giraud's cross.

Brig then made a triple substitution with 16 year old Charlie King, Lewis Pilgrim and Billy Bould all coming onto the pitch replacing Finlay Heath, Jack Baxter and goal scorer Robbie Cleary.

GOAL! With just 2 minutes left to play substitute Lewis Pilgrim makes it 5 for Brig! Some brilliant play by Brig in the middle of the Blyth half. The ball is then crossed in by Bould at the back post. The cross then finds 16 year old King who squares it back across to Pilgrim who taps it home into an empty net. Full Time

With a huge win vs Blyth it now takes Brig out of the relegation zone and 17th in the table. Brig's next game is next Saturday the 8th of March when Brig go away to Gainsborough Trinity.
