Match Preview- Lancaster City vs Bamber Bridge

After Saturday's postponement, we now turn our attention to the Lancashire Trophy in a huge quarter final game against local rival Lancaster City.

So far in the competition, the club has had a fantastic run, knocking out other local rival Chorley in a dramatic penalty shootout victory where Harry Bens converted the all-important penalty. In the next round of the competition, we faced West Didsbury and Chorlton, where we dispatched them 5-1 in what was a comfortable night for Brig.

Meanwhile, the hosts have had an impressive run, beating AFC Fylde in the first round of the competition 2-1, where Paul Jarvis scored two goals in quick succession in the 77th and 79th minute to see Lancaster through. The Dolly Blues then faced Prestwich Heys; this time, it was much more comfortable, with a 3-0 victory.

The hosts for the quarter final have been in some fine form recently, unbeaten in their last four league games (3W-1D). The side which sits 8th in the NPL will feel confident heading into the derby.

A player to be on the lookout for Tuesday's game will be Dom Lowson; the striker has seven goals this season for Lancaster and has been one of their star players. Lowson scored the only goal in their draw vs Workington on Saturday, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Simon Grand will be unavailable as he is cup-tied. The central defender is still one of Lancaster's top goal-scorers this season on an impressive six. Grand will be missed as he's been a big boost for Brig since arriving earlier this year.

Grand is not the only one who has scored goals this season; Mark Cullen loves cup competitions, scoring three goals in the Lancaster Trophy, and wouldn't it be grand for him to score another against Lancaster? Cullen scored two goals against West Didsbury and Chorlton while scoring a crucial penalty against Chorley to tie the game up.

After a rollercoaster of a season so far, Jamie Milligan and his team will be looking to bring some silverware home to Brig this season. If Brig is successful and can beat Lancaster, the club will be in the semi-final.

We hope to see as many of you at the game as possible.
