Match Preview: Bamber Bridge vs Morpeth Town

Bamber Bridge are looking to get back to winning ways at home on Saturday when they take on Morpeth Town.

It has been two weeks since a ball was kicked by Brig, as a result of our trip to Marine being postponed due to the hosts' progression in the FA Cup.

The rest time was something that Jamie Milligan felt Brig needed after a run of wall-to-wall games across midweek and weekend since the campaign got underway, and with several players still to return from injury.

Brig's last match saw them defeated 2-0 by Guiseley at Irongate, with two first half goals in the space of two minutes from Kallan Murphy and Tom Pratt doing the damage.

It was only the second time in seven league games that the hosts had tasted defeat, and only the second and third league goals conceded at home this campaign.

Standing in Brig's way on Saturday are a Morpeth side who have enjoyed a strong run of form in both league and cup, beating runaway NPL Premier Division leaders Radcliffe in the FA Cup first qualifying round before dumping out National League North side Southport in round two.

A 4-2 win over Marske and 2-0 success over Gainsborough Trinity punctuated those cup victories, with the goals flowing for Craig Lynch's side at present.

They are only one position ahead of Brig in the NPL Premier Division table, however, with 11 points from their nine games.

Brig could move up four places to as high as ninth position with a win, with the league table already congested behind Radcliffe, who have won all seven of their opening games.

And Milligan may be able to welcome back several players for the clash, with Matt Challoner, Jack Baxter and Louis Holt among those recovering from injuries suffered prior to the Guiseley defeat.
